SERVICES

During the month of July, we will be doing something a bit different.  Each Sunday in July we will be moving out of our church building - "Reaching Out" to our community/neighbourhood and beyond.  We have looked for ways we might be able to help out those in need or at least make life a bit more comfortable; for ways to help out around our neighbourhood, and to share our worship experience with another church group.  Below you will see listed the things we will be doing each Sunday in July - "Serving God by Serving Others".  We hope you are able to join us as we move out of our church building to be the Church in our community and beyond!

JULY 8, 2018
JULY 29, 2018

We will meet at the church building as usual at 10:30 am.  We will share together in prayer and Communion.  We will then go out around Mckernan, going door-to-door handing out a small flyer, which will inform others who we are, what we do, etc. Our hope is to meet our neighbours, let them know what we do and what we are about, and to (hopefully) show them the loveog God shining in and through us. After  we are done, we will meet at the Spray Park (112 St/75Ave) to share time together, and then go home and enjoy the rest of the day!

"WHYTE WALK" - 10:30 am

We will meet at the church for 10:30 am as usual.  We will have an explanation of what we will be doing, put together the gift bags, have Communion and Prayer, then we will either walk up to Whyte Ave or drive and park somewhere close by.  We will be buying supplies from our Recyclable Containers donations, and these supplies will be placed in bags we can give out to those in need along Whyte Avenue and area in Old Strathcona.  There will be a map available, so we don’t end up going back to areas we’ve already been to.  We want to be able to be "Reaching Out" to be "Serving God by Serving Others" - to show God's love to people in a very practical way!

JULY 15, 2018

We will meet in Gowan Park, across from the church building, at 10:00 am.  We will be helping to clean the park - picking up garbage, cleaning the sand in the playground area - basically doing whatever needs to be done to make it a safe and presentable space.  At noon, we will take the food we have brought with us, and share the meal together.  Finger foods such as sandwiches, and desserts such as squares, cookies, fruit, etc. will be best.  Refreshments (juice) provided. If you physically unable to clean, come out and share time with us - children can play in the playground, and we will all be able to eat afterwards!

JULY 22, 2018

We will be worshipping with the congregation of Garneau United Church (112 St/84Ave) - service begins at 10:30 am.  There are many seniors from the Ashbourne Home (attached) that attend, as well as many others.  We will be helping out in the service where possible, and sharing time together after the service during coffee time.  Come and share the experience!
